Our Land Clearing Division is one of a small handful of contractors in the area who self-perform all land clearing procedures. From logging and grubbing to grinding and burning, each services is planned, scheduled, and fulfilled in-house. No matter what your project may entail, our Land Clearing team has experience in everything from road widening to mass clearing.

We start every project with a definitive plan, never cutting more than needed. Our logging crew’s main purpose is to assist in the land clearing operation, having a crew onsite to control the cutting and maintain the erosion control process to deliver the best results. An S.M. Smith & Sons officer is onsite at all times to ensure that no trees outside of the denuded limits are cut, that protected areas are left undisturbed, and that the crew follows all OSHA safety regulations.

No matter the terrain, our crews are trained to handle each job professionally and with optimal productivity. From steep and rough to flat and wet, we able to handle any terrain, raking each job twice to ensure the cleanest conditions possible. Our fleet of bulldozers and excavators is equipped with specialized grubbing attachments, providing our team with the equipment needed to follow through on every project and take it to the finish line.

With two Grinding crews, each equipped with a large rub grinder, an excavator, and a rake tractor, our team works hand in hand with Land Clearing and Grubbing personnel to tackle every task and make sure every project is successful. By offloading the chipping process to the Logging team, only stumps are ground onsite and hauled off to cuts cost and shave time off of your entire project.

We understand the importance of proper grading when it comes to residential development. S.M. Smith & Sons’ Grading crew specializes in individual house lots, mucking out and filing in sediment basins, grading driveways, and backfilling foundations. With years of knowledge and experience, our team has honed their craft to provide reliable, certified services that you can confidently build a future on.

Mulch, dirt, sand, rock – whatever debris you’re dealing with, our Trucking Division has it handled. With more than a dozen trucks in our fleet, S.M. Smith & Sons’ timely team lets you worry less and get more done. Our Trucking division is responsible for hauling equipment, delivering and removing materials for grading, providing sand and rock to concrete manufacturers, and more. By working directly with our other divisions, we’re able to come together to work fast and finish strong.
